We've designed the Altiva experience to be clear, supportive, and free of surprises, from your first question to your last follow-up.
Everything begins with an evaluation form. This is not a booking form. It is a medical intake form that gives our clinical team the information needed to assess whether treatment is appropriate for you and what a protocol would look like.
You should include: your primary diagnosis or health concerns, how long you have had the condition, what treatments you have already tried, your current medications, any relevant recent lab work or imaging, and your health goals. The more detail you provide, the better Dr. Gutiérrez can assess your case.
There is no cost and no obligation. An evaluation is simply a medical review. Many inquiries result in an honest recommendation that the patient is not a strong candidate at this time, and we believe that kind of transparency is the only basis on which to build a trustworthy medical relationship.
Once your evaluation is received, our clinical team reviews your submission under physician oversight. Your medical history is assessed, the appropriateness of treatment is evaluated, potential contraindications are considered, and an initial protocol recommendation is drafted.
Qualified candidates receive a response that typically includes: a candid assessment of candidacy, a description of the recommended protocol, a realistic picture of what outcomes are possible for your specific condition, an indicative timeline for the treatment visit, and an estimated investment range.
From there, you can schedule a video consultation with Dr. Gutiérrez to discuss the recommendation, ask questions, and ensure you feel fully informed before making any decision. This consultation is included as part of the evaluation process at no charge.
Once you decide to proceed, we'll coordinate scheduling and provide you with a detailed pre-arrival packet. This includes your finalized protocol, a pre-treatment preparation checklist (medications, dietary guidelines, what to bring), and accommodation recommendations in Nuevo Vallarta.
Nuevo Vallarta is approximately 15 to 20 minutes from Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) under normal conditions, which has direct flights from most major North American cities. Our partner CityMedica can assist with airport transfer coordination. We recommend arriving 24 hours before your first clinic appointment to allow for rest and acclimatization after travel.
Most patients stay in one of the resort hotels or short-term rental properties in the Nuevo Vallarta area. The region offers excellent accommodations at a wide range of price points. Treatment is typically conducted on weekday mornings, leaving afternoons free to enjoy the beach, pool, or local dining. Many patients combine their treatment trip with a genuine vacation experience.
Treatment protocols at Altiva are typically completed over 5–7 days. The week begins with a comprehensive on-site assessment on Day 1: a face-to-face consultation with Dr. Gutiérrez, baseline lab work, and any relevant imaging review. This is followed by the primary treatment (whether MSC infusion, direct joint injection, exosome therapy, or a combination), which is typically performed on Day 2–3.
The remainder of the week includes adjunct support therapies (IV nutrition, anti-inflammatory protocols, BHRT initiation if applicable), daily clinical monitoring, and a final evaluation on the last day with Dr. Gutiérrez. You will receive a comprehensive discharge plan before leaving, covering post-treatment activity guidelines, supplement recommendations, dietary guidance, and your remote follow-up schedule.
Dr. Gutiérrez is present and actively involved throughout your treatment week. He conducts your initial consultation, oversees each treatment session, and performs your final evaluation. You will have direct access to him and his clinical team throughout your stay. This level of physician engagement is the defining characteristic of the Altiva experience.
Your care does not end when you board your flight home. Follow-up is a structured and integral part of every Altiva protocol. You will have scheduled remote consultations with Dr. Gutiérrez or his clinical team at 4 weeks, 8 weeks, and 3–6 months post-treatment. These sessions allow us to assess your progress, address any questions, adjust supplement protocols, and plan for any additional interventions if needed.
You will also receive a written discharge plan that includes specific guidance on physical activity levels in the weeks following treatment (some protocols require a period of reduced activity; others encourage gentle movement), nutritional and supplemental support, and warning signs to watch for that should prompt immediate contact with our team.
Many patients return to Altiva for annual or biannual maintenance protocols. Regenerative medicine works best as an ongoing investment in your biology, not a single event. Dr. Gutiérrez will discuss the concept of maintenance and repeat treatment timing as part of your initial evaluation and post-treatment follow-up conversations. You are always welcome to reach out between scheduled check-ins if you have questions or concerns.
